What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of optimising your website to get organic, or un-paid, traffic from the search engine results page. In other words, SEO involves making certain changes to your website design and content that make your site more attractive to a search engine, display higher in results, gain more visitors and ultimately attract more business.

When users search using certain topics or keywords having the correct SEO means search engines can provide the best service for their users. To do this, search engines will scan, or crawl, websites to determine how easy it is to navigate and read, rewarding user-friendly sites with higher rankings on the search engine results page.

How will it benefit your business?

The benefits are many and you could be losing money every day your website is not optimised for search engines. Here are five compelling benefits for SEO:

  1. People are looking for you
There are over 40,000 searches every second and over 3.5 billion searches a day.
  2. Search engines produce quality visitors
Why? Because users are actively searching for you or your products via key word searches or phrases.
  3. More likely to convert
It is proven that SEO visitors are more likely to convert into business.
  4. SEO builds trust and credibility
People use Google every day and trust it to find what they are looking for. 37% of search engine clicks are on the first organic listing, so by ranking higher there is a direct correlation to sales.

  5. SEO is measurable
You can measure your conversions and the source of conversions. You can also measure the progression of your website rankings and organic traffic.

There are always ‘quick wins’ to be had when optimising a website. However, SEO can take a few months to see full results once the process has been completed. However, just as it takes time to move up the rankings, it takes time to move down the rankings. Once you are placed in top positions, you rarely move down. The only reason this would change is due to rising SEO competition or changes in Google scanning or crawling rules.
